Pediatric nutrition and family feeding
Nutrition and feeding is one of the most important jobs as a parent. The endless amount of information, the endless choices, and overwhelming pressure make this job confusing! Additionally, there’s little support and no real training in how to feed a family. It is my job to guide you with strategies that are simple, practical and successful. During these sessions we’ll address topics such as: creating a framework for meals and snacks, creating a positive meal environment, introducing solids, picky eating, over or under eating, incorporating fun foods, trusting your child’s eating, cooking and shopping, movement, and any other concerns you have about your child’s or your family’s eating patterns. The goal is that you leave each session feeling like you have a plan going forward, education to back it up, and confidence that you can see that plan through.
Prenatal Nutrition
Whether this is your first or fifth pregnancy… Congratulations and welcome to one of the most awe-inspiring, yet challenging, phases of life. During these nine months your body is demanding more of you than ever. You might have questions about what to eat, what to avoid, weight gain, supplements, and side-effects of pregnancy (low energy, constipation, nausea, cravings, etc.), or blood sugar* or blood pressure management. In our sessions we’ll ensure that your nutrient status is balanced and that you are meeting all prenatal goals. We’ll tailor a plan to meet your individual wellness goals during pregnancy, and address any of your nutrition concerns. The goal is that you leave each session feeling like you have a plan going forward, education to back it up, and confidence that you can see that plan through.
*As a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist I will work with your provider to develop a personalized care plan for blood sugar management.
Indivudiual Nutrition Counseling
Where are you in your health journey right now? Perhaps your journey is to have a better relationship with food… to not feel so stressed, guilty or fearful about your choices. I can help restore the relationship with mind and body so the enjoyment of food is possible. Perhaps your journey is to feel better, improve IBS symptoms, or improve your energy and sleep. Or maybe your journey is to have better lab values at your next primary care appointment by lowering your cholesterol, blood pressure, or glucose and A1C levels. With a strong clinical nutrition background and passion for research I can address a variety of medical conditions, but find that some of the best “change work” encompasses conversations on more than just food and nutrition. In our sessions, we’ll spend time exploring community, mental health, body image, priorities and values. The goal is that you leave each session feeling like you have a plan going forward, education to back it up, and confidence that you can see that plan through.
What to Expect
Because I develop a personalized plan for every client, I recommend that we meet over a series of visits (preferably weekly, to start). This helps us to first get to know one another, tailor a plan that is right for you (and your family), and then evaluate and change the plan until we uncover a new way of life that is sustainable and rewarding for you and/or your family. Consider me to be your guide during this journey, not the boss (you are!) and definitely not the food police. I ask lots of questions, and in doing that, hope that we both discover new things about you. I provide nutrition, movement, and other lifestyle recommendations, communication between visits, and tools and resources to support you.
Initial Assessment
Designed to gain a complete understanding of your goals, health history, preferences, lifestyle, and personality. We spend time exploring your diet, food environment, movement and exercise, relationships, lifestyle, priorities, and past experiences. We will plan a path to your health journey by setting long and short term goals.
Follow Up
Recommended weekly, but will reassess frequency at further visits. These sessions are to monitor progress, make appropriate tweaks, and further explore barriers and motivators. These sessions are designed to provide education, resources and handouts, meal planning support, and lifestyle recommendations.
Ongoing Support
Once you feel on track and successful with your personalized plan, 20-30 minute “check-ins” are encouraged to provide extra accountability and support. The frequency will be determined on a case by case basis. Additional support can also come from the blog and recipes section of this site.

Questions to ask your insurance Company
Not all plans cover nutrition visits. It’s best to call your insurance company and ask them if MNT (medical nutrition therapy) is covered. Here are some questions to ask:
Is MNT a covered benefit with codes 97802 and 97803?
Does MNT require a doctor’s referral?
Are any diagnosis codes required?
How many visits are covered per calendar year? It this calendar year or term year?
Is telehealth covered?
Is there a copay?
Is this subject to my deductible
If your insurance is not listed or nutrition services are not covered, I can provide you with an insurance superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.
